Giving to Chatham Baroque

The income Chatham Baroque earns from the sale of tickets and CDs only covers a small portion of the cost of operating a successful small ensemble. We receive some support from the foundation and corporate community, but it is our many generous individual donors who ensure our continued existence. Please join the family of Chatham Baroque supporters today!

Your contributions help to fund a wide range of activities, which include Chatham Baroque's concert series, touring, recording, outreach, and educational programs. We greatly appreciate your support.

Emily Norman Davidson Fund

Last year an astounding number of contributions poured into Chatham Baroque in memory of co-founder and second violinist, Emily Norman Davidson. Some of these gifts came from groups ranging from Pittsburgh Symphony Musicians to the Ultimate Frisbee team, Pounce.

Chatham Baroque has decided to use the income from these funds to support one series concert a year, dedicated to Emily, as well as some new radio initiatives. Therefore, we want to build the Emily Norman Davidson Fund. We take this opportunity to ask you to consider supporting this fund.

We will make another appeal for general operating support in the late winter or early spring. You may want to contribute in response to both appeals, of course, but some of you might be inclined to support the Emily fund, others the general fund. In either case-or both-you will support Chatham Baroque, which-second to her adored daughter-was Emily's greatest passion and achievement.

When she realized that she was going to die, she urged her colleagues to make sure that the ensemble survived her. She wanted her beloved friends to keep adventuring musically. Julie, Patty and Scott have taken her charge seriously. In spite of what is both personal and professional bereavement, they have explored new repertoire this year, finding the experience of playing as a trio challenging and exciting.

What Emily helped to put in motion was an early music ensemble that in quality and professionalism has become comparable locally to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and has earned plaudits for its touring performances and recordings from around the world. Though Chatham Baroque operates on a small budget, it is the envy of the early music and chamber music worlds because its musicians are salaried (though modestly), have good health benefits and an office staff to support their work.

That work is a subscription series of local concerts, outreach programs for pre-school children, free informal concerts in unusual regional venues, touring in the U.S. and abroad, and an acclaimed series of recordings, with more to follow.

Contributions to the Emily Norman Davidson Fund will help to keep her legacy alive.
