Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger (1580-1651) was a prominent Venetian composer of the Early Baroque period. Kapsberger was one of the most versatile composers of his day. He composed a great deal of sacred music since he was employed by the church. He also wrote secular madrigals and instrumental chamber music. Moreover, Kapsberger wrote a lot of innovative music for instruments in the lute family.
His notable works in include his toccatas for lute, his madrigals, and motets.
