vocal ensemble
Formed as an early/new music vocal ensemble at Carnegie Mellon University, there are few successes Ping hasn’t achieved in its brief time together. Since its founding in August 2013, Ping has opened for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Orion String Quartet, produced four sold-out concert programs at Carnegie Mellon, featured in three hour-long radio broadcasts on Pittsburgh’s classical station WQED, and served as ensemble-in-residence at the Strings Festival in Colorado and featured artists at the Nantucket Musical Arts Society. Ping has also been an important catalyst in the creation of new vocal music, having commissioned, premiered, and championed eight new works by talented young composers. Ping’s appetite for music is omnivorous and their collaborations range from the classical realm to singing vocals for rap music artist Frzy.
