Soprano Sherezade Panthaki has been praised by critics as "a radiant voiced stand-out" (The Washington Post), "full of light" (The Goldberg International Magazine, UK), "a thrill to experience" (The Herald-Times, Indiana), and is in constant demand as an opera and oratorio soloist. In the Fall of 2009, she began an Artist Diploma at Yale University's Institute of Sacred Music – a program that accepts one soprano a year – where she is a soloist with the Yale Schola Cantorum under the direction of Maestro Masaaki Suzuki. In 2010 – 2011, she will be the soprano soloist for Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 and Bach's St. Matthew Passion with Masaaki Suzuki, Bach cantatas with Andrew Megill, Poulenc's Stabat mater with Simon Carrington, Bach cantatas and masses with Marguerite Brooks, a solo concert of Bach, Handel and Vivaldi with the Rebel Baroque Orchestra, Bach's Christmas Oratorio as well as solo cantatas with Mary Greer and the New York-based Orchestra of St. Luke's, Gorecki's Symphony no. 3 with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Bach Christmas cantatas with the New York-based Clarion Music Society, Bach solo soprano cantatas with the Bach Society of St. Louis, Handel's Messiah with the Yale Glee Club, and numerous concerts with the Gravitación Early Music quartet. Ms. Panthaki is a core member of the Yale Schola Cantorum as well as the Yale Voxtet, which performs numerous concerts throughout the year.
Ms. Panthaki has appeared in multiple leading/ title roles with the American Opera Theater (Washington D.C), the Bloomington Early Music Festival Opera (Indiana), and is the winner of several Young Artist awards. Recent engagements include solo repertoire spanning from Hildegard von Bingen to Stravinsky with the Portland Baroque Orchestra (Oregon), the COGE Choir and Orchestra (Paris), the Carmel Bach Festival (California), the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, the Iowa Bach Festival, Ensemble Voltaire (Indianapolis), Ars Musica (Chicago), the Catacoustic Consort (Cincinnati), the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, the Tafelmusik Baroque Institute (Toronto), the Boston Early Music Festival (fringe), the Bach Society of St. Louis, the Amherst Early Music Festival (Vermont), and the Madison Early Music Festival (Wisconsin). As a frequent performer with the Boston-based La Donna Musicale, Ms. Panthaki has championed the works of women Baroque composers in concert at numerous international festivals, including the Utrecht Early Music Festival (Holland), the Murten Classics Festival (Switzerland), and the Banco de la Republica series (Colombia). She is a founding member of the acclaimed early music vocal quartet Gravitación, with whom she has recorded Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertory; her discography also includes recordings of 17th and 18th century music by women composers with La Donna Musicale. For five years, Ms. Panthaki served as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, Illinois, and taught on the Voice Faculty at Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois.
Ms. Panthaki is the winner of two of Yale University's prestigious annual awards following her first year of study, from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music as well as the Yale School of Music.
